With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Lorraine “Lori” Jessie Ducommun, who left us peacefully on March 21, 2025, at the age of 84. Lori was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a cherished friend to so many.
She spent 63 wonderful years by the side of her husband, Fred, and was an incredible mom to Terri Buell (partner Darrell) and Darcy Ducommun (spouse Leanne). Being a grandma brought her so much joy, and she adored her four grandchildren: Mitchell Buell (Bree Bateman), Shelby Buell (Noah Stillar), Maddy Butler, and Kaylee Butler.
Lori was predeceased by her parents and five sisters, including her twin (who she often said was her partner in crime growing up!). She also lost several beloved nieces, a nephew, and many dear in-laws—family she held close to her heart.
Together Fred and Lori built a beautiful lakefront cabin on Golden Sands Beach at Turtle Lake. For 41 years, Turtle Lake was her happy place. She and Fred built a lifetime of memories there, surrounded by their best friends and honorary family, Ed and Diane Keller and their sons, Dean and Daryl. There was never a shortage of love or laughter at the lake.
Lori was always creating—whether it was through art, baking, or simply bringing joy to others. She and Fred ran a hobby shop in the ‘70s, which was perfect for her artistic spirit. Later, she found her place at the Co-op bakery, where she made lifelong friends and turned cakes into masterpieces.
Animals held a special place in her heart, especially her beloved Pebbles and Bear. She had a way of making every pet feel like they were the most loved in the world.
In her final days, Lori received incredible care at Battlefords Union Hospital, and she made sure to let the doctors, nurses, and care aides know just how much she appreciated them. They, in turn, adored her—because even in her hardest moments, Lori remained positive, kind, and full of love.
Lori’s family was her world. She lived with warmth, kindness, and a mischievous sparkle in her eye. Her advice to us all? “Just have fun and laugh.”
As per Lori’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Interment will be held privately with family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Battlefords Healthcare Foundation PO Box 1358 Stn Main. North Battleford, SK S9A 3L8.
She will be deeply missed, but her love and laughter will live on in all of us.
Condolences for the family can be made at www.eternalmemoriesfuneral.ca Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Eternal Memories Funeral Service & Crematorium – Trevor Watts Funeral Director.
