Mrs. Ida Pfeifer

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Ida Pfeifer on Thursday, December 8th, 2022. A Vigil of Prayer will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, 7:00 pm and Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 3:00 pm both held at St. Joseph Calasanctius Roman Catholic Church, North Battleford, SK with Reverend Father Phinh Do as celebrant. Interment will follow at the North Battleford City Cemetery.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her four children: Gary (Jennifer Meneses) of North Battleford, SK; Linda (Kirk Wolff) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; Bernie (Kara) of San Diego, CA; Marlene (Allan Sander) of Sugarland, TX and her 12 grandchildren: Caitlyn, Brody, Corey, Matt, Kenzi, Nick, Eric, Andrew, Katherine, John, Gabby and Cecily.
Ida is predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Pius Pfeifer; parents: Nikolaus and Elisabeth Bader.
Ida, the youngest of three children, was born in Heidelberg in what today is Ukraine. She is predeceased by her parents Nikolaus Bader and Elisabeth (Fischer) and her siblings Irene (Vybiralik) and Klaus Bader. In 1953, Ida emigrated from Germany to Canada to join her fiancée Pius Pfeifer in Saskatoon. Ida learned the seamstress trade in Germany and would work at the Bessborough Hotel and Kutz Tailers in Saskatoon. She married her fiancée the same year in 1953 in Saskatoon. Together they settled in the Battlefords in 1956 and started Twin City Plumbing. In 2 years, their shop was responsible for almost half of the gas permits in North Battleford. They spent most of their life together in the Battlefords and would later move to Edmonton to be closer to their grandchildren.
Ida was an avid homemaker and gardener. She loved to travel and enjoyed many family trips to Europe and Australia to visit family. Ida was known for her special recipes on Cabbage rolls, Perogies and potato salad as her husband was for “Pfeifer Spice.” Together they supported many charities including Catholic Family Services of the Battlefords; Pfeifer Learning Centre (BTEC); St. Therese College Institute of Faith and Mission (Bruno); Star of the North Retreat Centre (St. Albert); Lighthouse (Saskatoon); Battlefords Union Hospital; Battlefords Communiplex; She was proud to call North Battleford home. Her legacy will be greatly remembered by all.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Mrs. Ida Pfeifer can be directed to Battlefords Catholic Family Services, Pfeifer Learning Centre or The Salvation Army.
