Hedy Wing (Schulkowsky) of North Battleford passed away peacefully at the Battlefords Union Hospital on Wednesday, Oct 22 at the age of 91.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald; and her sister, Pauline. She is survived by her brothers: Ed and John; and her sister, Cecelia; as well as by many nieces and nephews.
In the 1950’s she worked at the Union Hospital until she married Gerald in 1957 and returned to becoming a farm girl, her joy.
Hedy and Gerald farmed for over 40 years in the Highworth district near Round Hill on the Wing homestead. Hedy was a gentle and kind person, hard working and a true farm girl. No one ever left her home without having a tea or coffee and food. She knew every aspect of farm life and especially loved her animals and her garden, which provided wholesome food for family and friends over the long winter months. She loved the country life but eventually moved to the city where she and Gerald purchased a home for their retirement from farming. After his passing in 2006 Hedy remained in the home until 2016 whereupon she then moved into a condo and then finally to Caleb Village.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Caleb Village and at the Battlefords Union Hospital.
A wonderful and kind woman, a gracious hostess, she will be missed by all of those who had the good fortune to know her.
As per Hedy’s wishes, memorial donations can be directed to the Battlefords Humane Society, PO Box 645, North Battleford, SK S9A 2Y7.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Calasanctius Roman Catholic Church on Friday, October 31, 2025. She will be interred at Medstead where she was raised.
