Turner: Cathiline Frieda Turner passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at the Battlefords Union Hospital.
She was born to Katherine and David Harder on April 20, 1937 at Waldheim, Saskatchewan. She was the oldest of 5 children. In 1947 the family moved to a farm near Medstead, Saskatchewan. There, Cathy and her younger sister Doris travelled to school each day by horse and buggy. Cathy, aged 10, was the driver and hitched the horse at the livery stable while they attended classes. She and her family went on hikes into the woods to pick berries and wild flowers.
In 1953 she married Bruce Turner and moved to North Battleford. She had 5 children one of whom died at the age of 2 in a tragic accident. For more than 40 years she worked at various duties at Fishers Drug Store in North Battleford. For a time, they lived in Meota in a house on Jackfish Lake, then to a house in Battleford and then to an acreage just outside of Battleford. There her amazing talent for gardening blossomed. She had flowerbeds everywhere and some rows stretched more than fifty feet.
She was a championship bowler, a formidable Bridge player and very skilled at sewing, knitting and crocheting. She will be remembered as a kind, loving, generous soul.
Many thanks to the kind, caring nurses at the palliative care unit of the Battlefords Union Hospital as well as special friends Ivan, Donna and Rose.
Cathy is survived by her sons: Tim (Zdenka), Grant (Rhonda), Bruce, Scott (Corianna); grandchildren: Tina, Brandon, Allex, Krystal, Kailee, Nicole, Natalie, Bruce, Norman, Colton, Kelsey as well as several great grand children. She was predeceased by her husband, Bruce and daughter, Jeraldine.
The funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in North Battleford on Saturday, July 20, 2024 – 11:00 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Eternal Memories Funeral Service and Crematorium – Tessa Bell Apprentice Funeral Director.
