Mr. William (Wasil) Stephen Rudychuk

It is with sadness that the Rudychuk family announces the passing of William (WasiI) Stephen Rudychuk. William passed away peacefully on June 28th, 2024 at Battleford Union Hospital at the age of 81 after a long fight with declining health issues. William was born on January 9th, 1943.
William was a decorated Toronto Fire Department Captain. He served for 26 years retiring in 1994. He was an active sportsman in many sports which included hockey, curling, baseball, golf, lawn bowling, 5 pin bowling, karate, and boxing.
William was admired for his response, “Damn the torpedoes full steam ahead”.
William volunteered in many social organizations but later in his life his health restricted his involvement in these organizations.
William was predeceased by his father William and Mother Rose, brother Paul, sister-in-law Alice, sister Jean and brother-in-law Elk, nephews Aaron and Larry, and stepfather Walter.
He is survived by his sons: Ryan (Cara), grandsons: Hunter and Payton; son, Blaine; sister, Linda; his special niece, Darcy; nephew, Gary (Margaret); nephew, Ron (Marlene), nieces: Rose and Debbie; nephew, Ricky; numerous great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. William is also survived by special grandchildren: Ryne and Emma.
William will be cremated and wishes no funeral services to be held. He will be buried by his father William at Doncrest graveyard near Weekes, Saskatchewan.
A heartfelt thank you to Battleford Union Hospital’s third floor and Palliative Care Unit staff for the compassion and special attention that they gave to “Wasil” during his stay. Thank you to Eternal Memories Funeral Service & Crematorium, Trevor Watts, Funeral Director and Andrea Hoffman for taking care of William’s final wishes.
