It is with sadness we announce that William (Bill) Rodwin passed away peacefully on November 27th, 2022 in his home at Shellbrook Long Term Care Nursing Home. Bill was born in Prongua, Saskatchewan on May 5, 1924. His family eventually moved to a farm by Lac La Peche, SK. He married Leona Yourkowski in 1951 and they settled into their farming life in the same area, north-west of Blaine Lake.
Bill was very involved in sports in his younger years, and enjoyed going out to watch the sports games as he grew older. He was a very hard-working man from a young age and farmed his entire life. He enjoyed going out in the community with friends to the socials, the dances and playing cards with the neighbors. Bill had called square dancing in his younger years. Bill worked in various different jobs while tending to the family farm. He worked on building the highway North of Blaine Lake and had worked for various farmers in the area over the years. Family and friends would join Bill every spring and fall for the cattle drive to the pasture. This made for many memories, always with a LARGE picnic, cold beer and many laughs. Bill always opened his arms and his heart to anyone that came to the farm, he loved children and always made them laugh. You’d often see him picking berries and driving around on his quad.
The farm was a place of gatherings all their lives, right from when they had a young family. His kids would gather with friends at the farm, nieces and nephews would stay at the farm more often than not. Many memories were made. Friends loved stopping in at the farm when going on quadding or snowmobile outings. Bill always had drinks ready, Leona always had lunch on the table. The door was always open and you always felt their warm welcome. You heard Bill too! He’d be hollering out the door to ensure you stopped in.
He loved celebrating his birthdays. He always wanted to make sure you were coming over to celebrate with him. If you were a week late, all the better to have another cheers for his birthday! He never missed family birthdays either, he always made sure it was celebrated.
Bill was predeceased by his wife, Leona, his daughter, Elaine and his son, Randy. Bill was also predeceased by his mom and dad, Polly and Peter Rodwin, brothers-in-law Mike Kulyk, Paul Bazarkiewicz, Nick Zadorozny, sister Annie Troobitscoff (John Troobitscoff), and brother Bob Rodwin
