The family of Wilfred (Willy) Edward Emel announce the passing of their beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend on September 1, 2023, at the age of 80.

Willy was born on July 12, 1943, in Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan to Winfred Joseph and Fernande Jean Emel.  In 1968, Willy married the love of his life, Suzanne and together they settled in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. During their time in North Battleford, they were blessed to have 3 children, Richard, Sean, and Kimberly.

Willy spent most of his working years in the automotive industry, enjoying a variety of occupations from mechanic to service manager to salesman.

Willy and Suzanne enjoyed many years together camping, gathering with their large extended family, and indulging in their many hobbies until Suzanne’s passing in 2004.

In his retirement, Willy was passionate about his lakeside cabin and precious garden, travelling to Yuma, AZ in the winter, and watching his kids and grandkids go on to have families of their own.

Willy was predeceased by Suzanne; his parents: Winfred and Fernande; his sister, Doris; and brothers-in-law: Cony, Alain, Leonard and Bud.

Willy will be greatly missed by his sons: Richard (Danielle) and Sean (Jenn) and daughter, Kimberly (Jamie); grandchildren: Cole, Ashley (Josh), Cameron, Dairyck, Micah, Jordan, Rachel and Danica; his great-grandchildren: Lucas, Mylah and another great-grandchild due February 2024. He will be also missed by his brother, Albert (Jennifer) and sister, Marie; many nieces and nephews; and his cherished friend, Dorothy.

Funeral service will be held at St. Joseph Calasanctius R.C. Church – 1942 – 98^th St, North Battleford, SK S9A 0N4 on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 11:00 am.  Reception to follow in St. Joseph’s adjoining hall with a private family internment thereafter.
