It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Randall Quintaine, known to many as Harry or Handy Randy, on April 14, 2025, in North Battleford, Saskatchewan.
Randy was born in Saskatoon and grew up in the Sutherland area, where his love for machines, music, and family began. He married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Oshanek, and together they shared 41 years of love, laughter, and rock and roll. Married for 28 of those years, they built a life full of adventure and most importantly, they raised their daughter Kayla with humor, strength, and a lot of heart.
Randy began his career in the early 1980s with a Saskatoon-based power line company, operating heavy machinery and mastering his trade. His dedication was unmatched—studying on his own time and earning his Journeyman Powerlineperson certification in the early 2000s.
Later in life, Randy had a contract delivery route throughout the Battlefords and Northwest Saskatchewan. He built relationships with customers and coworkers alike, always with quiet reliability and a dry wit.
In recent years, Randy and Bonnie settled into an acreage, a peaceful slice of paradise where he found joy in gardening, tinkering in the garage, baking bread, and becoming a proud cat dad. His best buddy said it best: “Randy was a man of few words, a yes-or-no kinda guy. He didn’t talk much—unless it was about cats, Bon, or his daughter Kayla.”
Randy is survived by his beloved wife Bonnie, daughter Kayla, and his siblings: Laurie (Ted), Gail (Orville), Sharon (Jerry), Patrice (Hermann), Michele (Brad), Sheila, and Barb, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Eva Quintaine, and his brother Sheldon.
A celebration of Randy’s life will be held at a later date. In the meantime, please raise a glass, turn up some rock and roll, and remember the quiet, loyal man who showed his love not in words—but in the way he lived every day.
