John Robert Johnson
April 22, 1928 (Turtle Grove District SK) – December 21, 2025 (Battleford SK)
As the little streams all lead to one big river, and the river makes its way out to sea:
So each little path so dim, joins the road that leads to Him.
In the early hours of the evening on December 21, 2025 John Robert Johnson passed peacefully in his home and made his journey “up the road, to His mansion in the sky”.
Though most vividly remembered wearing a faded, old tilly hat, John wore a plethora of hats throughout his nearly 10 decades of life. John was raised on the family farm and began his working life with high hopes of farming. After a few short seasons of hoppers, drought, sick cattle & bad luck, John decided farming was best left to the farmers and moved on to try his luck in many other avenues. Ever the hard worker, John worked in multiple retail businesses across the prairies before becoming a government Health Inspector. John proudly collected pension for more years than he worked but his hard work did not end when his pension began. John had many hobbies as a scout master, wood turning, gardening & spent his summers at “the Turtle” where much of his time was spent keeping the water system working in the big cabin.
John is survived by his children: Daughter Glenda (Gordon) Parkinson; son John Stewart (Shirley) Johnson; daughter Mary (Jim) Glover; son William Billy (Phyllis) Johnson; son David Johnson; son Alec (Andrea) Johnson; and son Murray (Cindy) Johnson; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.
John was the foundation of the Johnson family.
John was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Rose Isabell Johnson nee Stewart; parents: Jack & Marjorie (Meyers) Johnson; sister Marjorie Louise Smedemark & infant sister Alice Mary Johnson.
