Mr. John James Squire

With a heavy heart, the family of John Squire announce his passing on January 13, 2025 at the age of 100 years.
Left to mourn his loss and cherish all that John was, is his beloved family: daughter, Lillian Stomp, son, Brian (Pat) Squire, granddaughters: Pamela (Mark) Stadnyk, Jessica (Scott) Craig, Melissa (Joel) Squire-Clark and Ali Squire (Dan). John is survived by his treasured great grandchildren; Emma, Avery, Madisyn, Taylor, Hudson, Hailey, Rome and Indie.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marlene and parents: Albert and Neljie Squire.
John was born and raised on the family farm in Edam, SK. He left home at 19 years old to work on the oil rigs in Northern Alberta. This is also where he met Marlene. They were married March 29, 1952 and raised their two children. The family moved many times throughout Alberta with purchases of businesses, service stations, hardware stores and hotels. Always the businessman, John had a keen eye for opportunities. The couple semi-retired and settled in North Battleford in 1980. John & Marlene’s love for travel took them on many adventures. The love they expressed for travel inspired the generations that would follow.
Funeral Services for John will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Garden Chapel, 1332 100th Street in North Battleford, SK and John will be laid to rest beside his beloved Marlene and family in Edam Municipal Cemetery in Edam, SK following this service.
The family suggests, that if desired, a donation can be made in John’s memory to the Battlefords Healthcare Foundation PO Box 1358 Stn Main, North Battleford, SK S9A-3L8.
