Jason Perret passed away on Monday, March 2nd, 2026, in Cochin Saskatchewan. He is survived by his son Derek Perret (wife: Julia Perret); daughter Sophia Perret (partner: Issam Ettir); brother Jody Perret (wife: Tracey Howell-Perret); and numerous nephews and nieces along with many other family members and lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his parents Amedee “Frenchie” Perret and Norain Perret. Jason was born in Saskatoon, SK on December 9, 1969, and was shortly after adopted by Amedee and Norain, where the family lived in the Battlefords area while Jason and his brother Jody were growing up. Jason was an active kid growing up, playing various sports and being outside a significant amount of the time. He was an avid hockey fan and could be seen watching hockey in the garage during the playoffs and he often told Derek stories about the Oilers glory days of the 80’s. Jason was also known as someone who had a passion for music. He would often recount the band and song name whenever any song came on the radio along with accompanying facts on the band (band members, who left or joined the band, etc.) and it was very tough to stump him when quizzing him on this. Going with the theme of his music passion, he also loved to record music since he was a kid, which is something he continued to do up to his passing. Jason may have been keeping the blank cassette industry alive, with his purchases of blank tapes to record songs on and has an extensive collection of recorded tapes. Not to be outdone by music moving to the virtual world, he was able to become more “techy” later in life. Jason got his music collection on a computer as well and was always working on new playlists and making new mixed CD’s for family and friends to listen to. He also enjoyed writing songs and would often recount memories of Derek and Sophia growing up in these songs. Jason could often be found sitting in the garage simply listening to his music collection and the door was always open for someone to pop by and have a visit. Jason also had a passion for the lake and grew up going to the family cabin in Cochin since 1981. He loved to slalom ski, swim, fish, be on the water or simply just relax outside on the deck. He moved out to the cabin fulltime around 2015 and lived there up to his passing. He was at his happiest when family and friends were visiting as well as when everyone was listening to some music and having a beer in the garage. He was a kind and gentle man who loved to keep to his routines. Jason was great to anyone he interacted with and will be missed amongst many parts of the Cochin and area community. His memory and legacy will be carried on by family and friends, and he will be forever missed by everyone. At Jason’s intentions, there will be no formal funeral service, but there will be a celebration of life during the summer.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Eternal Memories Funeral Service & Crematorium – Larissa Wack Student Funeral Director.
