It is with deep sadness that the family of Gerald Peter Ryhorchuk, affectionately known as Jerry or JR, announces his passing on June 6, 2026, in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, due to heart failure.
Jerry was born on December 31, 1949, to Michael and Mary Ryhorchuk and was one of four siblings.
Jerry attended school in Denholm, Saskatchewan, where he developed the strong work ethic and practical skills that would define his life. An automotive mechanic by trade, he had a natural talent for fixing and building things.
In 1970, Jerry married the love of his life, Ida Smith. Together they built a life filled with love, hard work, and devotion to family.
After their marriage, they moved to Calgary, Jerry owned and operated a Texaco service station and garage. In 1978, they returned to North Battleford, where Jerry worked for Victory Ford and Hunter’s before venturing out on his own. Not long afterward, he established Jerry’s Sandblasting while continuing to work as a mechanic and build trailers. Through years of dedication and hard work, the business evolved into Jerry’s Trailer & RV Centre, a venture that became well known throughout the community and reflected his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to quality workmanship.
Their greatest joy came with the arrival of their son, Kevin, in 1980. Jerry was immensely proud of the man Kevin became. Watching Kevin become an electrician and follow in his entrepreneurial footsteps by owning and operating his own successful business brought Jerry tremendous pride.
Jerry’s cherished grandchildren, Danika and Deklan, brought endless joy to his life and became two of his greatest blessings. He loved following their lives, celebrating their accomplishments, and spending time with them whenever he could. When Kevin married Lianne, Jerry warmly welcomed her into the family, and his happiness grew even further.
Jerry had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed camping, summer and winter fishing, hunting, quadding, and gathering with family and friends. He never passed up an opportunity to socialize, share stories, or enjoy a laugh with those around him. He was always ready for a good game of Kaiser and treasured the many hours spent around card tables with family and friends.
A lifelong enthusiast of classic vehicles, Jerry loved collecting and admiring old cars and trucks. He also enjoyed attending auctions, always hoping to find a great deal or an interesting treasure to bring home.
Jerry had a special love for dogs and valued the companionship they brought throughout his life. His faithful companions Dusty, Freckles, Lady, and most recently Buffy were never far from his side and brought him immeasurable comfort and happiness.
Jerry will be remembered for his strong work ethic, mechanical talent, entrepreneurial spirit, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family. His presence touched many lives, and the memories he created will be cherished forever.
Jerry leaves to mourn his son, Kevin (Lianne); his beloved grandchildren, Danika and Deklan; his brother, Donny; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ida, who passed away on November 11, 2025; his parents, Michael and Mary Ryhorchuk; and his sisters, Angie and Zonia.
Though he is no longer with us, Jerry’s legacy lives on through the family he loved, the business he built, the friendships he treasured, and the countless memories shared with those fortunate enough to know him.
Reunited with Ida, forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
