It is with heavy hearts the loving family of Gary Penner ‘GarBear’ announce his passing on Friday, September 8, 2023 at the age of 58 years. GarBear was patient, down to earth, gentle quiet, highly intelligent and a real jokester. He was a family man – he was the main care giver of his mom in the most recent years in which he took great pride in; he provided her with so much love, care and protection. He was the best big brother to his sister Brenda and a faithful companion to his one true love and soul mate, Angela Bonfiglio. GarBear was the sweetest man who truly cared for his own.
Gary was a jack of all trades; he was a fire alarm technician, a vacuum cleaner salesman, he worked for the parks department at the City of Saskatoon and most recently, he never missed a day at work at L&M Sawmill in Glaslyn. Gary was proud of graduating grade 12 & the numerous awards he received and courses he completed in all the different lines of work he did over his lifetime. One award he received and was very proud of, was laying of the special bricks in front of the Bessborough Hotel in Saskatoon, his hand prints are on one to this day. GarBear was a man who took great pride in his accomplishments.
Left to cherish and honor Gary’s memory is his loving family: mother, Diane Scott; father, Ken Wayne Penner; sister, Brenda Webb; brother, Brian Penner; sister, Karen Kaufman; brother, Shane (Kassandra) van Wijnbergen cousins: Tasha, Angela & Curtis Wilson; niece, Elizabeth & great-nephew, River Penner; niece, Ashley (Clint) Dies and her family; cousins: Marilyn, Arlyss, Debbie, Sandra and Gayla and uncle, Ken Moen; aunt, Carolyn (Glen) Kildaw & aunt, Mary Wurz as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
