It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Woytiuk, who left us on July 17, 2026, at the age of 70 years old.

Brian was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan but spent most of his young years in Whitkow, Saskatchewan with his parents Morris and Nellie Woytiuk and brothers Dale and Glen and sister Linda.  Brian enjoyed sharing stories of those days as a young boy attending a one room Acton school house, where he claimed to the smartest in his class – he was the only one in his grade.  He always shared with a sense of humor and fondness when recalling his childhood.  He has so many fond memories of swimming at the old farm swimming hole with his siblings and neighbour friends and rode more calves than horses. Although things were hard at times, he always focused on the positive with the acknowledgement that people do their best with what they have.  This shaped Brian’s sense of community, the understanding that you have to contribute and put the work in if you want to see change and growth.  This mindset shaped Brian into the man he became.

Throughout his life Brain was known for his tireless work ethic and dedication to any and all projects he tackled.  His career included positions at Pepsi, the Capri Inn, Hunters, Manning Mercury, Town and Country, Ulmer Chevrolet, Rainbow Toyota and finally he spent the last 25 years as the proud owner of Unity Motor Products.  He made lasting connections and friendships wherever he worked and earned the respect of his colleagues through his consistency, kindness and commitment to a job well done.

While he was proud of his work Brian was best known for his commitment to his community through his volunteerism.  Brian believed in being productive member of his community and leaving every place better than how he found it.  He generously gave his time to countless organizations, including the Kinsmen Club in North Battleford, the North Battleford Rodeo, the Lions of Club of North Battleford.  When he moved from Battleford to Unity in 2001, he continued giving back to his new community.  He joined the Unity Chamber of Commerce where he initiated and organized the “Grand in Your Hand” promotion that supported local businesses and community pride.  As a member of the Unity Lions Club and a key organizer of Citizens on Patrol, he invested in both service and safety.   At the local rink, where Brian was on the board of the Unity Senior Hockey Club, he could be found in the time clock box, engaging with fans and working tirelessly behind the scenes.  As co-chair of the Unity Facilities committee, he helped raise funds for a new outdoor swimming pool and improvements to the community hall.  He also played an important role in remodeling the Unity Golf course clubhouse.    One of Brian’s proudest accomplishments was Unity Western Days.  From preparing the rodeo grounds to securing sponsors, he understood and executed every detail that made this event a success.

Sports were one of Brian’s greatest passions.  He enjoyed coaching senior ball, RCMP ball, minor hockey and most importantly, had the privilege of coaching his own boys.  He believed that lessons leaned through teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship extended far beyond the playing field.  He left a lasting impact on the many athletes whose lives he touched.

Before Brian and Randie made Meota their all-season home they spent many years camping at the Meota Regional Park.  During this time, they made lasting friendships that were more like family.  Brian was an active member of the park board and spend countless hours dedicating his time to ensure that the park was an enjoyable space for all those who entered.  He always had a project on the go and looked to his close friends Cameron and Doyle to troubleshoot and complete the many projects that came up along the way.

In recognition of his extraordinary dedication to volunteerism, Brian was honored as both a Queen’s Jubilee Medal recipient and Citizen of the Year in Unity, recognition that reflected the immense respect and appreciation his community held for him.

As much as Brian loved each community, he lived he, he loved his family more.  Brian was devoted to his family.  From helping build his parents home in North Battleford to farming with his Uncle Orest, he was always ready to offer his skills and knowledge. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  His steady presence, generous heart and quick wit will be deeply missed.

But of all the roles Brian held throughout his life, none brought his greater joy than being a Grandpa.  His beloved granddaughter, Quinn was the light in his life.  The smile on his face and twinkle in his eye when he talked about her said everything that words could not.  Time spent following Quinn to her various activities was never wasted time.  Those moments filled his heart.  She brought immeasurable pride, laughter and purpose, and his love for her was unconditional and unmistakable.

Brian is survived by his wife Randie, sons Andrew(Erin) and Bryce, his grand daughter Quinn, his step grandchildren Kay-Lynne Fehr (Marentin), Emily Collier(Dom Settee), his brothers, Dale(Dianne), Glen(Val), his sister Linda and was well loved by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

His legacy lives on with the family he cherished, the friendships he nurture, the countless lives he touched through his volunteer service and the communities he helped strengthen.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported Brian throughout his life and during his final journey.

A come and go Celebration of Brian’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 28, at the Alex Dillabough Centre in Battleford from 2pm to 5 pm.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the BUH Foundation, in keeping with his lifelong commitment to supporting his community.

Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the communities he strengthened and the love he shared so freely.  He leaves with us, a lifetime of memories.
