Albert Allan Els passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022 in North Battleford Union Hospital at the age of 89.  He was born on June 29, 1933 to Adam and Katie Els on the family homestead in the Yorkton area, the second oldest of 9 children.

Albert went to school in the RM of Wallace where the family farm was situated whereupon completing his Grade 10, he took a job with the RM and learned to operate heavy equipment.  After a few years, he and two of his younger brothers went to work road construction in the mountains in British Columbia.  His next job came from the RM of Mervin, where he continued to develop his road-building skills and saved enough money to buy a used caterpillar.  His road-building career began with clearing brush and landscaping in the Brightsand Lake and St Walburg area.

Albert married Adrianne Kowalyshen in Rhein, Sk in November 1958.  They bought a mobile home and camped at various residences wherever Albert found work in an ever-widening area, and ultimately purchased land 1.5 miles north of Turtleford on which to settle permanently.  By now, 3 children had been added to the family and Els Construction had been formed and expanded.

Albert sold his equipment in 1980 and became sole owner-operator once again with a grader and a contract to clear oil leases.  He spent the final approximately 20 years of his career as grader operator maintaining ice roads for Luna Logistics based in the Arctic.

Albert is predeceased by his first wife Adrianne; son, Robert; second wife, Chris; brother Rudy; sister Marjorie.

Survived by his daughter, Sherri (Els) Haberman; son, Barry Els; brothers Ken, Gordon and Ed; sister, Bev; grandchildren Angela Els; Lisa (Haberman) Kisling; Robert Haberman; Barry, Jr and Robert Els.

As well, a very special thank you to the North Battleford Union Hospital for their care and attention in his final days of illness. There will be no service held at this time.
