It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Dianne Allyson Shea. Dianne was predeceased by her parents, Russell (2020) and Sharon Shea (2022). She leaves to mourn her sister, Colleen Shea (Barry Byman), brothers, Doug (Catherine) Shea, John Shea, and Tim Shea. Special mention of her “favourite” niece, Stacey Lemoignan (Curtis), best friend and neighbour, Penny Smith, and mentor, friend and nurse, Lori Coch. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and special extended family Chuck, Donna-Lynn, Katrina, Trevor, and Michael Thompson.
As a young child growing up, Dianne was always a little mischievous and as some would say even a little devious. Yet Dianne was brilliant and extremely competitive always striving to be her best at everything she did. Dianne enjoyed sports but had a special love for swimming and track and field. Her competitiveness won her countless first place red ribbons, and even at church Dianne won first place for memorizing the most amount of scriptures. When Dianne graduated from high school she attended the U of A in Edmonton. At the age of 19 while attending her first year of university, Dianne was struck down by a sudden onset of mental illness. Dianne had a difficult time in the beginning of her illness and spent the next few years in and out of hospital. Dianne eventually learned to cope with her illness and it was through her illness that she learned a compassion for helping others. Dianne always enjoyed cooking holiday dinners for friends and family and even though Dianne didn’t have much she was always willing to share what little she did have.
Dianne always had a diehard, never give up spirit and in June of 2024, when she received a lung cancer diagnosis, she never wavered in her decision to fight. After many rounds of chemo and radiation God saw how tired she was and finally called her home. Special thanks goes out to all those in the mental health field and to those who helped Dianne throughout her life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mental Health, Mustard Seed or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Eternal Memories Funeral Service & Crematorium – Tessa Bell Apprentice Funeral Director.
