It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Martin Walter Roske, a man whose deep empathy, boundless creativity, and free spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
Martin was born August 24, 1963 to Walter and Margaret (Sankey) Roske in North Battleford, SK. He was a sensitive soul with a heart as vast as the skies he loved to gaze upon. A true lover of nature, he found peace in the quiet solitude of fishing, the wonder of the stars, and the raw beauty of lightning storms. Whether it was the haunting notes of Pink Floyd drifting from his speakers or the smell of something extraordinary simmering on the stove, Martin had a way of making the ordinary feel magical.
An artist in the kitchen, Martin had an uncanny ability to turn whatever was on hand into a gourmet meal. Cooking wasn’t just a skill for him; it was a form of expression. His spontaneous spirit meant you were never quite sure what you’d be eating, where you’d be going, or what kind of shenanigans you might get caught up in, but you always knew it would be an experience worth remembering.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Martin began his working life as a mechanic. He was a GM Master Technician being in the top 16 in Saskatchewan. He was so skilled at this job that he could take apart a quadrajet carburetor blind folded and put it back together. When he set his mind to something there was no stopping him. But it was on the open road that Martin truly found his calling. Trucking became not just a job, but a way of life. Over the years, Martin wore many hats in the industry, eventually starting his own company, MT Trucking. He hauled freight across Canada and through 40 US states, always chasing the horizon with a sense of freedom only he could fully understand.
Martin lived life on his own terms. He went where he wanted, when he wanted and if you were lucky enough to be invited along for the ride, you knew it was going to be unforgettable.
He will be remembered for his huge heart, his spontaneous spirit, and his unwavering love for life’s simple but profound pleasures. He leaves behind countless memories, laughter, and stories that will be told for years to come.
Martin, your journey may have ended here, but your spirit continues down the road, wild and free.
Martin is survived by his daughter, Angela (Johnny) Beerwort, Rayneer and Colt, and his son Lloyd Roske. His Brothers Percy (Josy) Roske and Allan Roske (Leslie Wisoley). His sisters Donna Roske and Jean Jackson. Numerous nieces and nephews and well as his best friend Rick Miszaniec. Martin is pre-deceased by his parents, Walter (1998) and Margaret (2004).
It was Martin’s wish that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Medstead School towards the purchase of a telescope as Martin was a star gazer. Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Medstead Community Hall.
