James Szabo 1935-2025
James Szabo passed away peacefully on Monday February 24, 2025, at Spiritwood Lodge. Jim was born on the family farm in the Southeast of Spiritwood on August 23, 1935, to John and Lydia Szabo. There he was taught how to grain farm and raise livestock including cattle, pigs and chickens. As a teenager he ventured out to Alberta and worked in the oil patch. Having strong roots to the farm he answered the call to return and came home to take over the family farm. In 1967 Jim met and married Magdoline Szabo who was born and raised on a neighboring farm. Together they had two beautiful daughters, Donna and April. Jim enjoyed the simpler things in life and stayed close to home. He could be found working around the farm always busy with fixing machinery and tending to his animals, including the deer which he had a love for. Jim treated them like pets would feed them over the long winter months. Following his passion for baseball, Jim would happily join any game he could find.
He will be lovingly remembered by his ever-adoring wife Magdoline; his daughters Donna (Alvin), April (Randy); grandchildren Gavin, Seanna, Landyn Priestley, Tanner, Tyler, Volk; his sister Marie Murri and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family. Jim was predeceased by his mother Lydia Szabo and father John Szabo, brothers Louie, John, Frank, Zoltan, Joe, Steve, Andy, sister Lydia and three infant siblings, in-laws Deszo and Margaret Szabo. Funeral service will be held at a later date.
