The Sad Little Chickadee
One bright sunny day, Irene was sitting in her living room relaxing when all of a sudden she heard a loud bang on the window, she jumped up and looked out the window, and on her flower bed there was a little bird sitting there wondering what was that hard thing that it hit. The poor bird was just moving his head back and forth and his eyes were rolling, so Irene put a glove on her hand and went outside and picked the little bird up and started to rub his poor little head and stroke his back, it was so little that Irene had to be very careful. So she walked in the back yard and talked to the bird, she said “well little birdy what am I going to do with you, I think that I should try to find out where your nest is.”
She continued to sooth the little bird and tried to keep it nice and warm, she wanted it to fly again so she waved her hand into the air to see if it would fly away. But the bird was too weak, so Irene found a branch and set the bird on it, and started to walk away, all of a sudden she had a bad feeling that something might harm it. So she picked it up again and walked further into the yard and found a taller tree to put the bird in, there was a limb sticking out of the tree and it was just perfect for the poor hurt bird.
So she kept a close eye on it and sang to it and talked softly to it, Irene went away for a while and when she returned she saw that the little bird was doing so much better, she walked softly up to it and said “you can fly away now you pretty bird I am so glad that you are better, and I’m so happy that I got to spend some time with you and help you, please be careful out there” and the chickadee flew away.
Irene is going to try and help all kinds of birds and animals or just anything or anybody.
