Helen Verda Savostianik

Helen Verda Savostianik, 90, of Saskatoon, SK, peacefully passed away on February 13, 2022, after a short convalescence.
Helen was born on July 13, 1931 to Verda and Russell Loadman in Scott, SK. After Helen graduated from McLurg High School in Wilkie, she obtained a teaching certificate from the Saskatoon Normal School.
After graduation, she taught in Rosebrier country school, and met John Savostianik while he was in the area for his road-construction work. John and Helen married in 1954 and went on to have four children, Verda, Mervin, Lana, and Nancy.
After raising her family, Helen attended the University of Saskatchewan where she earned a Master of Education and then went back to teaching before retiring in 1994. While retired, Helen had time to pursue her love of square dancing and writing family histories.
Helen was predeceased by her parents: Verda and Russell Loadman; brothers: Harold and Jim, and half-sisters: Frances and Kathleen.
She is survived by loving husband of 67 years, John; children: Verda (Don) Wildeman, Mervin (Marie) Savostianik, Lana (Barry) Hicks, and Nancy (Allan) Hoffinger; grandchildren: Jeremy and Andrea (Thomas) Wildeman, Jeff (McKay) and Aden Savostianik, Derek and Amanda Hoffinger, and great-grandchildren: Tyson, Carter, and Jaxon McKay, and Madelyn and Jackson Thomas.
A family memorial will be scheduled at a future date.
