It is with heavy hearts that we announce Mom’s passing peacefully October 26, 2021 with family nearby. Born June 12, 1937, in Alvena, SK. At the age of 7 her family moved to Prince Albert where she would do her schooling and help with various family businesses, convenience store, Pines Drive-In and Cabins. Her early adulthood mom worked at the Victoria Union Hospital kitchen preparing patient meals. In 1955 she married Eugene Boruch and had 6 children and resided on his family farm in MacDowall. Upon her husband’s passing in 1976, she began work at Sears in the catalogue department processing customer orders. She married Albert Zaiachkowski in August of 1978 and moved to Saskatoon.
Mom continued her work at Sears in various departments – catalogues, restaurant and finally settling into the Switchboard which is the position she held when she retired in 2002. Mom was an avid gardener with a green thumb that could grow just about anything. She was also an avid baker and her famous poppyseed cake was requested at various functions they attended. Mom and Albert were involved in various Charitable organizations – Lion/Lioness Clubs, Kinsmen and were very involved in church activities UCWL and Knights of Columbus.
Genevieve was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Phyllis Gayowski, siblings Ben and Bob and his wife Eleanor, her first husband Eugene Boruch, her father and mother-in-law Nick and Mary Zaiachkowski, father and mother-in-law John and Doris Boruch, brother-in-law Alex Zaiachkowski, and niece Cynthia Gayowski.
Mom is survived by her husband of 43 years Albert Zaiachkowski, brother Sylvester (Darlene) Gayowski of Prince Albert, sister Darlene Gayowski in Ontario, her children Theresa (Fred) Tremblay of Moose Jaw, Gregory (Lisette) Boruch of MacDowall, Boris (Donna) Boruch of Prince Albert, Michele (Bob Derdall) Boruch of High River, AB, Andrew (Sheila) Boruch of Swift Current, Richard (Valerie) Boruch of Edmonton, sister-in-law Evelyn (Walter) Gresiuk, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to extend our Thanks to Dr. Duplessis, and Jamil. The staff at Trinity Manor and most especially Andrea Zimmer from palliative care.
Prayers will be held at Park Funeral Home, 311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Reverend Fr. Ivan Nahachewsky. The Divine Liturgy will be held at Dormition of the Blessed Mother of God Ukrainian Catholic Church, 120 – 105th Street East, Saskatoon, SK on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Reverend Fr.
