It is with heavy hearts that we are letting friends and family know that our beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and sister has passed away at the age of 85 on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at the Battlefords Union Hospital surrounded by her family from complications of COPD.
Gennie was born June 19, 1938 in Kerrobert, SK to Michael and Pauline Bohn, and grew up in Tramping Lake. Gennie is in the middle of a family of 11. Kate (Peter Lauinger), Helen (Albert Simon), Margaret (Gerritt Leewes), Leo (Johanna), Ray (Felicidad), Amelia (Balzar Weber) our beloved MOM, Anna Marie (Ed Borschneck), Paulette (Vic Biancardi) and Tony (Ethel).
Gennie leaves with us many wonderful memories and laughs that she contributed to our lives. She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her loving husband Martin of 67 years of marriage. Her daughters Donna (Greg Small), Jacqueline (Bill Lee), Gwendolyn (Doug Lipka), her sons Brian (Evann), Duane, Dean and Daniel. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Mom was creative in anything she did while raising 7 children, from cooking and baking to sewing, painting, pottery, ceramics and wood working. When the grandchildren came, sharing her creativity and many talents with them. Gennie and Martin had many enjoyable years thru the ups and downs of being full time farmers around Wilkie and Landis while raising a family. They enjoyed having their downtime taking their twirls around the dance floor impressing the couples around them with their dance moves.
When Mom and Dad retired from the farm in 1998, she fulfilled her everlasting dream of living in their custom built log cabin home at Martinson Beach on Jackfish Lake for 23 years. She enjoyed the peace and serenity the lakefront view gave to her and all the different types of birds and wildlife. She loved spending time in her garden and tending to her flowers and yard, to going back to putting her creative hands back to work and making numerous shapes and sizes of birdhouses. She loved every day at the lake with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and all the new friends and neighbors she met.
Gennie takes with her our everlasting love. Rest in peace Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma and now take your new wings and watch over us until we meet again. “LOVE YOU AND LEAVE YOU”!
A Celebration of Life for Gennie will be held as a come and go tea on Saturday December 9th, 2023 from 1 – 3 pm at the Landis Community Complex in Landis, Sk.
