In loving memory of Florence Selinger.
Florence was born December 25, 1928, in Edmonton,Alberta, and passed away September 21, 2018, at River Heights Lodge in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, surrounded by her family.
Florence was our mom, friend, and confidant. Loving her family unconditionally was a lifelong mission. Welcoming us into her home for whatever we needed; be it lunch, coffee, or just to be someone we could share our stories of the day with made her happy. There was no judgement in her because we could be who we were and she was always so proud. Without question, all of her grandchildren feel a deep sense of loss since she was a surrogate mom and whenever they needed her ,she provided their soft place to land. Her relationships with her 5 sons in law and daughter in law were special as well. She loved them for loving us and they became her best friends. Loving her in return was easy. She is survived by her husband Tony who was her only dance partner in life. The family they built together is a testament to their bond.
Mom lived most of her 89 years in the town of Battleford. This is where she acquired many lifelong friends who speak of her humour and ability to brighten your day. These friends were not only relatives or personal friends but people she met in the grocery store, drug store, post office, and small businesses of our town. Her special talent was leaving everyone with a gift. Even if she didn’t recognize it Mom offered all takers a gift of connection.
Florence’s celebration of life will be held at Sallows and MacDonald Funeral Home on September 30, 2018, at 2:00 PM. The celebration of life is open to anyone who wishes to pay their respects. Inurnment will be limited to immediate family only!
Blessing -Father Greg Elder
“God gave us a cherished gift. We held that treasure with gentle hands and loving heart.
With sorrowful reluctance we watch as she slowly walked away from us .
Mom took tiny steps to slowly let us mend our broken hearts along the way.
Then in the evening as snowflakes fell from the sky we release our hold to the angels that guided her home to God and her waiting family with their arms open wide. In God’s name we pray for her everlasting life.”
