Eric Whitbread, 41, of Battleford, Saskatchewan, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Edmonton, Alberta after a courageous battle with liver disease. He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 15 years, Aimee, and their beloved two children: Maya and Benjamin. Also survived by his mother June Wielenga; father Richard (Luanna) Whitbread; siblings Mark Wielenga, Katherine Whitbread, and Elizabeth Whitbread; in-laws Wayne and Nellie Ball; Gerrit (Chrissann) Ball – Samantha, Cheyenne, Chloe, Dawson, Brynleigh; Andrea (Rob) – Tyler, Markus. Eric was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he lived until he moved with his mother and brother to Mission, BC in his teen years. Eric and Aimee met in 2000 and, as Eric would often say, it was love at first sight. Eric and Aimee moved to Chilliwack, BC, married in 2002, and soon began their family. They moved to Hope, BC shortly before Ben was born and then to Saskatchewan in 2010 on a three-year plan for what they called their “Saskatchewan Adventure”. The family fell in love with prairie life and settled in Battleford. Maya and Ben were the joy and pride of Eric’s life and he told anyone who would listen how intelligent, musical, funny, talented, and kind his kids are. Eric loved to be with his family fishing, throwing the football, sitting around the fire, playing music, and just being together. Eric made every day an adventure and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
There will be a Funeral Service to celebrate Eric’s life on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 @ 2:00 p.m. from the Territorial Drive Alliance Church with Reverend Keith Klippenstein officiating. Interment will follow at a later date.
