January 19, 1949 — May 31, 2023

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Elmer Sloan, fondly and maybe better known to many as Jon. Jon is survived by his two sons Curtis and Devon, their spouses, five grandchildren, a wonderful brother, four amazing sisters, and lots of extended family and friends.

Jon was born in Campbell River, BC but shortly after moved to the homestead in Maymont, Saskatchewan where he grew up, and later returned to raise his own family, in time.

Jon was known to many people in many different ways: to some, he was the teacher and vice principal they remembered from school; to others, he was a wonderful musician spreading music throughout the communities he lived in and around; many knew him as quite a handyman, building and fixing houses over the decades; some knew him as a mentor and place of support, but all knew him as a loving family member and most of all a friend.

The Memorial for Jon (Elmer) Sloan will be held Saturday, July 15 from 1-4 p.m. at Maymont Memorial Hall.
