Edward Schulkowsy
1931-2026
Ed was born on September 8, 1931, in rural Leipzig Saskatchewan, and passed away at the Idylwild Lodge in Spiritwood Saskatchewan on May 23,2026. He was the eldest of five children born to Elizabeth (Wirachowsky) and John Schulkowsky who moved to the Glenbush district in 1933.
Ed attended the Glenbush and Daylight schools for his primary education, and later while working in Edmonton he attained his heavy-duty mechanic certificate. Ed then returned to the Medstead area to farm and worked at the Co-op Creamery until it closed.
In 1956 he married Amelia Seidle and they were blessed with a family of two.
In the mid-1980s he went to work for the Fonda Road Construction crew, a job that he truly loved and remained with until his retirement.
Ed is lovingly remembered by his daughter Grace (Rodney) Honch, his sister Cecelia Eberle, brother John, in-laws Ed and Joan Seidle, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and his special friend Winona Kolbe.
Ed was predeceased by his wife Amelia, his son Stanley and sisters Pauline Lehouillier and Hedy Wing.
Mass of Christian Burial took place at St. Rita’s Roman Catholic Church in Medstead and a Celebration of Life at the Medstead Community Hall both taking place on June 8, 2026.
His ashes were laid to rest in the Medstead RM Cemetery.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff, caregivers and doctors at the Idylwild Lodge for the excellent and compassionate care Ed received at the Lodge during his stay these past four years.
