Earl was born January 27th 1961 in North Battleford SK. He grew up on the family farm in Battleford area and then in Mayfair, SK. Earl attended school in Battleford Central School grades 1-6. Then attended grades 7-10 in Mayfair Central school. During school Earl would work on the farm and for neighbors on occasion. He then pursued construction work in Northern Alberta (Ex: Edson, Grand Prairie, Fox Valley, etc.) operating heavy duty equipment in the oil exploration business. He also worked for Interprovincial Concrete operating a gradall for sidewalk and curb improvements. Even though work took him away from home, his heart was at the family farm. Earl was a Councillor in the RM of Meeting Lake # 466 for 27 years. He was proud to be a Councillor to contribute to the community.
In his younger years he played hockey and enjoyed downhill skiing. Skiing started first on the “Big” hill at home. He would later progress his interest in skiing making trips to Table Mountain and the Rocky Mountains. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers and friends. There were always stories to tell from his adventures. When he was on the farm he enjoyed being around the animals (Ex: Cattle, horses, dogs, cats, etc), mechanical work, and being involved with farming.
Family and friends were important to him. He looked forward to family gatherings and reunions. He loved to tease and joke around with everyone. Earl was generous and would help others in need. Also, he was happy to socialize and get updates about loved ones and friends’ experiences (in person and through the telephone). He was knowledgeable keeping up with the news, weather, sports, and current world events.
In his later years his health deteriorated with chronic respiratory issues, which limited his activity. Even though this restricted him, he participated where he could. He will be greatly missed by many.
