It is with great sadness the family of Mrs. Doreen Duchnitski announce her sudden passing Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the age of 78 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Garden Chapel- Battlefords Funeral Service. Interment will be held at a later date in the summer at the Hill Crest Cemetery in Saskatoon, SK. Memorial donations in memory of Doreen may be directed to the Heart & Stroke Foundation 1738 Quebec Ave #26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9. Doreen Phyllis Duchnitski (Née Becker) was born Oct 26, 1941 to Wilf and Christina (Wollmann) Becker. Doreen had only one sibling, her younger brother Richard.
She met her husband (Mike) at an early age, were married in June 1958, and raised their three children in Saskatoon. Doreen was very scholastic and talented in music They both played in night clubs, dances and private events, and were very well known in the US and Canadian country and western music circuit. Although Doreen worked at a nursing home, her passion was her music, she sang and played bass guitar. Besides her musical talent Doreen also had a pilot’s license.
After her husband Mike’s passing, Doreen moved to North Battleford where she worked at Tim Horton but continued with her love of music by playing with many talented people and bands. Doreen had many friends, she enjoyed visiting the casino, and loved animals. She was a very quiet, loving and gentle soul who will be missed by all who knew her.
Doreen was predeceased by her husband, Mike, her longtime partner, George, her parents: Wilf and Christine Becker, son in law, Don Yagelnesky, in-laws: John and Rayme Duchnitski, sister in law’s: Elaine Eskovich and Doreen Duchnitski.
Doreen leaves to mourn her three children: Louise (Larry), Gail (Bill) and Wayne; her grandchildren: Darcy (Tamara), Tamara (Paul), Michael (Courtney), Kathleen, Taylor (Kaitlyn) and Jenna (Tim); her great grandchildren: Kallie, Carter, Jesse, Tyson and Tristan; her brother, Richard and his wife, Peggy; her nephews: Darryl, Ryan and Brent, Tristan; nieces: Tyla, Mindy, Sherrie; her sister-in-law, Virginia, brother-in-law, Ed, and many cousins.
