On Wednesday, February 12, 2020, Cindy MacKay, wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, passed away suddenly at the age of 38 years. Cindy will always be loved and remembered by her husband and best friend, Michael and their wonderful children Catherine, Victoria and Elizabeth; by her parents Larry and Pat Mack, and by her brothers and sisters, Tyler (Vanessa), Richard (Shari) and Krista; by her parents-in-law Ron and Sharon MacKay, sisters-in-law Marie (Jeremy) and Claire (Stuart). Cindy is also loved and missed by all of her many nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends.
Cindy was born in North Battleford, SK at Battlefords Union Hospital and grew up on her family’s farm near Meota, SK. After earning a BSc in Agriculture, she travelled widely before meeting her future husband, Michael at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Saskatoon, SK. They were married on the family farm on July 30, 2005. She pursued a second career as a registered nurse, starting her career at Royal University Hospital, and had their three children before moving with her family back to the farm she grew up on, in July, 2015. Together Cindy and Michael began pursuing their dream of raising cattle. Cindy was very involved in her local community and will be very much missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
A gathering to celebrate Cindy’s life will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Meota Community Hall. Those attending are encouraged to dress in colourful clothing, noting that Cindy’s favourite colour is red. In lieu of flowers or memorials, donations should be directed to the Battlefords Humane Society, a cause that was very close to Cindy’s heart.
