Alice Leonard
Alice Irene Leonard passed away at the Jubilee home in Lloydminster on Saturday July 24, 2021 at the age of 77. Alice was born on February 28, 1944 to Thomas and Anne Melnychuk in Cudworth, SK and grew up in Saskatoon. She took all her schooling in Saskatoon including receiving her secretarial diploma. She met the love of her life while having her car repaired at the Little Chief Service Station in downtown Saskatoon. It was love at first sight. Robert and Alice exchanged vows 3 months later, on October 31, 1964. They always enjoyed dancing together, especially jiving to 50’s rock and roll music.
Almost 3 years had passed when they started expanding the family tree. They wasted no time and welcomed their 1st born into the family, Thomas Clarke Leonard on September 10, 1967 in Calgary AB. 11 months later their 2nd child Cameron Scott Leonard arrived on August 6, 1968 in Claresholm AB. Only 12 months had past when 3rd child Robert Reid Leonard was welcomed into the family on August 17, 1969 in Saskatoon SK. Finally, after taking a bit of a break, 16 months later the arrival of their 4th and final child Jeffery Warren Leonard arrived on December 28, 1970 also in Saskatoon SK. Life was usually hectic raising 4 boys so close in age and there were many moments that tested her sanity.
The family lived in many towns and cities throughout western Canada for the first half of their marriage of just over 55 years, before finally settling down in the town of Lashburn SK. She retired from her career with the City of Lloydminster public works department after more than 20 years of service where she met a lot of great people.
Some of her many talents included knitting, crocheting, drawing, and painting winning many ribbons at the local fairs. She loved to sing and spend time in her garden. She also had a unique sense of humor that was shared with several other members of her family.
Alice was very proud of her boys, their families and all their accomplishments. She will be dearly missed by us all. Alice is survived by her 3 sons, Scott (Kandal) Leonard and their children Tayah and Frankie. Rob (Carolyn) Leonard and their 3 children Reid, Jessica and Joel. Jeff (Tracey) Leonard and their 4 children Megan, Matt, Taylor and Logan. Daughter-in-law Tammy Leonard and her 4 children Blair, Heather, Kayla and Tyson. Her sister Judy Melnychuk of Saskatoon, along with 10 great grandchildren, several Uncles, Aunts and Cousins.
Alice was predeceased by her loving husband Robert Leonard in May of 2020. Her son Tom Leonard in October of 2020. Her Grandson Edward Leonard, her parents Tom and Anne Melnychuk and her Mother and Father-in-law Clarke and Jean Leonard.
