ZAIACHKOWSKI, Albert James
April 23, 1940 – May 19, 2022
Albert passed peacefully May 19, 2022 at Royal University Hospital with family nearby. Albert was born April 23, 1940 at Hafford, SK to Nick and Mary Zaiachkowski, and is the youngest of three. In his early years Albert helped on the family farm and supplemented the farm income by becoming Grader Operator for the R.M. of Redberry which began his love for road building and maintenance.
In August of 1978 Albert married Genevieve and became an instant stepfather to 6 children and made their life in Saskatoon. Albert and Genevieve were very involved in the community and various charitable organizations – Lions Club, Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon and spent many years doing charitable work with Knights of Columbus and their Church organizations. Albert spent 30 years with the R.M of Corman Park as grader Operator, a job he admired and took pride in. Albert was parish president, and instrumental in bringing the Knights of Columbus to the parish. Albert spent many years as Grand Knight which he was very proud and passionate about as well as fulfilling his duties as Grand Knight for the parish council 13129. He also served as maintenance for the Parish for many years.
Albert is predeceased by his parents Nick and Mary Zaiachkowski, brother Alex Zaiachkowski and very recently the love of his life Genevieve who he mourned deeply after her passing.
Albert leaves to mourn his sister Evelyn (Walter Gresiuk), numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 6 stepchildren Terry (Fred Tremblay) of Moose Jaw, Greg Boruch (Lissette) of MacDowall, Boris Boruch (Donna) of Prince Albert, Michele Boruch (Bob Derdall) of High River, AB, Andy Boruch (Sheila) of Swift Current, Richard Boruch (Valerie) of Edmonton. 5 step grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren one being “Mr Duke” that both Mom and Albert spoke about daily watching him grow through Facebook.
Prayers will be held Tuesday May 24, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at Park Funeral Home, 311-Third Avenue North, Saskatoon and Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday May 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Dormition of The Blessed Mother of God Ukrainian Catholic Parish. 120-105 Street West, Saskatoon.
