Renovations at Prince Albert National Park

It has been a very busy week here in Prince Albert National Park. Since Victoria Day both Waskesiu Marina and Highway 263 improvements have recommenced for the 2016 season.

Looking ahead to next week there have been some developments in the Grey Owl Site and Kingsmere Lake area rehabilitation project that may further impact visitor plans to that area. New information is outlined below and a quick reference poster has been provided. This poster can be shared on social media channels and at tourism destinations.  

Grey Owl Site and Kingsmere Lake area rehabilitation
Construction continues on the Kingsmere River boat launch and road.

New! To enure the safety of visitors and construction crews starting on Monday May 30, 2016 the Kingsmere road will be open to vehicle traffic on weekends only, beginning 12:00 Friday until 23:00 Sunday.

Highway #263 Rehabilitation
Construction on Highway #263 began on May 24, 2016 and continues through weekends.

During the work period:
–        Single lane alternating traffic, detours or temporary road closures may be encountered.  
–        Road workers, heavy equipment and flag persons may also be present in the work area.
–        Visitors are asked to drive with care and obey all traffic sings in and around the affected work areas.

Waskesiu Marina Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation work to improve the condition of roadways, parking areas and walking paths at the Waskesiu marina began on May 24, 2016.

During the work period,
–  access to marina facilities will be possible; visitors may experience delays due to temporary alternating boat launch closures.
– Road workers, heavy equipment and flag persons may also be present in the work area.
– Single lane alternating traffic, detours or temporary road closures may be encountered.
– Visitors are asked to drive with care and obey all traffic sings in and around the affected work areas.
