W. Brett Wilson Announced as Keynote Speaker for Inaugural Graduation – South Region

North West College is very pleased to announce that W. Brett Wilson will be presenting the keynote address at the inaugural Southern Graduation this June. Families from Unity to Shellbrook and all points in between will gather to celebrate the accomplishments of our students and hear from a homegrown international leader in his field.

Born and raised in North Battleford, Wilson first reached national recognition as co-founder of FirstEnergy Capital, one of the energy industry’s leading investment banks. He is perhaps most widely known as an alumnus of CBC’s Dragons’ Den where he remains the leading deal maker of all time.

More recently, Wilson received an honourary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2015. He continues to divide his time between innovative entrepreneurial ventures and a robust philanthropic portfolio. A major sponsor of dozens of charities across Canada including Me to We, ALS Canada and Kids Canada, Wilson never forgets his roots and continues to support the Battleford Union Hospital Foundation, Battleford United Way, and the Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan.

Wilson exemplifies the North West College values of Excellence, Integrity, Invested and Innovation.  We are thrilled to welcome him home to give the inaugural address in the Battlefords!

Photography
On the day of the graduation, photography stations will be set-up for students and their guests to capture the moment after they cross the stage. Want to capture the moment on stage? Feel free to grab your camera and find a spot down the centre aisle to take the photo at the right moment. Please be mindful of the center aisle as others who will be looking to capture the moment of their graduate. Worried about getting the best seat? Unsure if you’ll be able to see the ceremony? A professional videographer will be on hand to film the event and project it onto two big screens making every spot the best seat in the house.

Personal Belongings
Please leave all personal items such as jackets or purses with a family or friends in the audience. A room will be available for graduands to be fitted prior to the ceremony but, due to the volume of traffic, the room cannot be secured.
