Winter-tainment Week

Winter-tainment Week will begin February 14th from 10 a.m. til 3 p.m. at Battlefords River Valley Visitor Centre.

This is a FREE event with Winter-tainment Week kick-off featuring horse drawn sleigh rides, outdoor wiener roast and broomball games, hot chocolate & snowshoeing.

Then from 7 p.m. til 9. at the Nationswest Field House there is another FREE event with the movie “Inside Out” with Valentine cookies & Love punch.

Then on Monday February 15 at the Battlefords Aquatic Centre there is the Family Day 2-K and Ice Games which opens at 2:30 p.m. There’s a 2-km River Walk or Run in the Lazy River, Slush Puppy specials, Colored Ice Games, Frozen T-shirts Races & Dying the Pool Ice Blue! Regular admission rates apply.

Then Tuesday February 16 from 4pm – 7pm at the Nationswest Field House is the  p.Giant Game Day where you play GIANT Snakes and Ladders, Jenga, Chinese Checkers, Kerplunk, Connect 4 and Checkers. Regular admission rates apply. Enjoy FREE beverages. Also, at 2 p.m. at the Dekker Centre ‘The Good Dinosaur’ Movie will show with a $2.00 admission(NO food or drink in the Theatre…water only).

On Wednesday February 17 from noon until 8:30pm at the Rotary Plaza at the CUplex  is LIVE Ice Sculpture Carving by ‘Fire & Ice Creations’ plus ice skating on the Synthetic Ice with a Marshmallow roast.. Bring your chair and watch this free event. Then from 6 p.m. til 8:30 at Northland Power Curling Centre there’s drop-in Curling, equipment supplied; must have clean indoor shoes.Adult $10.00; Children $5.00; under 14 years, must be accompanied by an adult. Food and drink specials at Rock This Way Cafe, upstairs at the Curling rink from 5:30 p.m. till closing. And there’s FREE Public skating & hot chocolate from1 p.m. til 3 p.m. at Don Ross Arena.

Thursday February 18 from 2pm – 9pm at the Dekker Centre  is ‘The Land Before Time” movie showing with a $2.00 admission; NO food or drink in the Dekker Centre Theatre…water only. Then from 7 p.m. til 9 at the Battlefords Co Op Aquatic Centre: Throwback Thursday Swim..Prices taken out of the archives: Adults: 25-cents; Students ages 15 to 17, ten-cents; Children, five-cents. Enjoy a 50’s themed swim, with door prizes. And there’s FREE Public skating & hot chocolate from1 p.m. til 3 p.m. at Don Ross Arena.

Friday February 19 from 1:00pm – 8:30pm at the Allen Sapp Gallery & Nothland Power Curling Centre events continue. From 1 p.m. til 4 at the Allen Sapp Gallery decorate with Ice Lantern crafts: make 2 lanterns while enjoying hot cocoa. A $2.00 drop-in fee applies. Then from 6 p.m. til 8:30 at Northland Power Curling Centre, there is drop-in curling, equipment supplied, must have clean indoor shoes. Adults $10.00; child, $5.00(children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult). From 6 p.m. til closing. There will be food and drink specials at Rock This Way Cafe, upstairs at the Curling Rink. The Wrap Up is Saturday, February 20, from 12pm – 4pm at the Rotary Plaza at the CUplex. From 12 noon til 4 p.m.,there are outdoor free activities including Schlockey, Tandem trot, snow castle building and coloring, skating, music, sliding and hot chocolate. There’s also $3.00 hotdogs & $2.00 Slush Puppies at Minisapoy Cafe inside the Aquatic Centre. Also from 12 noon til 2 p.m. at the Battlefords Co Op Aquatic Centre lobby there’s a Chili contest. Bring your best chili to win or come and vote.
