Never Again

November 11, 2018 - 10:34am

As we have approached Remembrance Day – I have been ruminating over what this day is: a day to remember.

Rightly so, we focus on the soldiers who have fought and sacrificed everything. We see their photos and honour the dead. We proudly display the photos and medals of our forefathers, family, friends who have served or who are currently serving.

With the world as it is today – I remember what they sacrificed, fought and often died for.

Being in my 50s, I grew up knowing soldiers who had returned from WWII.

What Teenagers Need to Know About Their Parents

September 26, 2018 - 9:29am

So often, I see articles about What Parents Need to Understand About Their Teens.

Being the mom of a 13 year old, I delve into these articles looking for information on what my teen needs from me.

In the articles it tells me that teens will push you away but still need you. OK. Check. That makes sense.

I am told that my teen will be struggling for independence. OK. Yes. That’s important!

The Story is More Than Its Headline

July 11, 2017 - 10:23am

Increasingly, I have noticed that the art of debate is starting to lose its footing.

I blame social media.

Don’t get me wrong. I love social media. I use social media in my personal life and extensively in my working life. As the Community Affairs Editor of paNOW.com; meadowlakeNOW.com and battlefordsNOW.com – I use social media to find out what you are doing in your communities; I use social media to extend the reach of our publications by linking YOUR stories to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn.

But the problem is this: we have too much information.

Your Community is Fantastic!

February 8, 2016 - 10:52am

battlefordsNOW.com launched less than a week ago which is so hard to believe!

We launched this exciting news portal in your community and you have had a few days to explore the site and see all the goodies we have for you.

But reporters, editors, advertising reps and management have been hard at work in your community preparing to launch this massive news site.

Personally, I have to say, it has been an exciting adventure for me to find out all about your community.
