17 cars leave the tracks in train derailment near Clavet

A train derailment sent more than a dozen cars off the tracks east of Saskatoon Wednesday evening.

Cleanup crews were at the scene near the community of Clavet for hours.

Canadian Pacific Railway confirmed 17 cars in a westbound freight left the tracks near the area.

REGINA — A man who struck and killed a conservation officer on a Saskatchewan highway says the court didn't properly consider his background of poverty, abuse in a residential school and struggle with alcohol when he was sentenced.

Two people are dead after a small private plane crashed in the mountains of southeastern British Columbia.

The Transportation Safety Board says a single-engine Rockwell 112B took off from Kelowna on Monday morning heading to Wynyard, Sask.
