Residential school graveyard may become heritage site

Several Battlefords area advocates are asking for the public's help to turn a former local residential school burial ground into a municipal heritage site.

N.B. woman pleads guilty to defrauding Canada Post of $325,000

A local woman, who appeared in North Battleford provincial court Monday, will be sentenced in January after pleading guilty to defrauding Canada Post.

The City of North Battleford is looking at establishing designated neighbourhoods throughout the city as part of its work in bringing residents together and improve community safety.

Charges stayed for woman related to Saturday's incident; sentenced on other matters

The second suspect involved with the RCMP Saturday, in which a man was fatally shot, received a stay of proceedings for a charge stemming from the incident.

Fred Light Museum seeing strong numbers

The Fred Light Museum in the town of Battleford reports it had a good season this year.

"The numbers were up quite a bit," Mayor Ames Leslie said following council’s recent meeting. 

For the 2017 season, the museum had 610 visitors, 290 more than the 2016 count of 320.

Town of Battleford already starting budget planning

While it's only October, the Town of Battleford is already getting started on its planning work for its 2018 budget.

Mayor Ames Leslie said the town will have its first meeting later this month. It will also be working on its strategic planning.
