Members of many First Nations attended a conference in North Battleford Thursday to find out more about the benefits of getting involved in niche markets such as medical marijuana production and how it could create more economic opportunites for Indigenous people

N.B., Meadow Lake under air quality alert due to smoke from wildfires

Environment Canada has issued a special air quality alert Wednesday for the North Battleford area, and across Saskatchewan including Meadow Lake, due to smoke moving into the air.

The smoke in the atmosphere is causing poor air quality and reduced visibility. 

While this sign in a school zone in Battleford Tuesday indicates the maximum speed is 40 km/h, the town will be reducing the maximum to 30 km/h to increase safety effective immediately.

Maximum speed for school zones, playgrounds to change in Battleford

The Town of Battleford reduced the traffic speed around school zones, among a number of changes it is making to increase safety for children and residents.

Rainbow crosswalks in North Battleford and town vandalized

North Battleford and Battleford both had their sparkly new rainbow crosswalks damaged in the past couple of days, causing frustration for the many volunteers who spent hours creating them.

Acclaimed East Coast musician playing house concert in Battleford

Award-winning singer and songwriter J.P. Cormier is looking forward to being in Battleford tonight for a house concert - his first time playing here.

The East Coast artist will be performing with Dave Gunning, covering songs from their recent album, called Two.
