Boy injured after LLRIB house shot at multiple times

A five-year-old boy has what La Ronge RCMP describe as serious, but non-life threatening injuries after a house on the nearby reserve was shot at multiple times Jan. 13.

According to a media release, officers were dispatched at approximately 9:15 p.m. last night after a report was received about a firearm being discharged at a Lac La Ronge Indian Band residence. The investigation revealed the house was shot at multiple times and the suspects fled the area prior to police arriving. One of the bullets penetrated a wall of the residence and injured the young boy.

Upon arrival, police contained the scene and provided first aid to the youth before transporting him to a hospital. The were other occupants in the residence at the time of the shooting, but no other injuries were reported.

The RCMP General Investigation Section and the Forensic Identification Section from Prince Albert were called in to assist and the investigation remains ongoing.
