WPD cramming ambulances with toys for the holidays

Dec 19, 2018 | 4:00 PM

Toys were piled high behind Jessica Stephens as she stood in the foyer of Walmart Wednesday for the final day of WPD’s Cram the Ambulance event in support of the Empty Stocking Fund.

For over a decade, the organization encouraged residents and worked with community partners to collect toys for the funds Christmas hamper program.

Stephens, who is WPD’s operations training manager, said the paramedics see a number of children who will receive the hampers and as a community-based organization “want to help everyone have a merry Christmas, and sometimes that involves getting something underneath the tree and something new.”

“We want to see those kids be happy,” she said.
