BHDA ready for another year of the Robbie Burns Supper and Ceilidh

Dec 10, 2018 | 1:00 PM

It may be a ways away, but the Robbie Burns Supper and Ceilidh preparations are well underway.

The Scottish event is on January 26, with doors opening up at 5 p.m., and supper at 6 p.m. The event promises to entertain and continue to show off the Scottish culture in the Battlefords.

Amanda Maunula, the co-chair for the event, said the Highland Dance Association doesn’t do many small fundraisers through the year, so they focus heavily on this night.

“We’re really trying to get the word out of it, we want it to become a bigger community event,” she said. “It is our biggest fundraiser of the year, its an event that even if you’ve gone to in the past, you’re going to want to come this year.”

The event will feature traditional Scottish foods, with the event and Ceilidh kicking off at 7:30 p.m. Following the festivities, Maunula said there’s going to be more entertainment for the whole family.

“We’re trying to change a bit of the atmosphere here, with a DJ coming at the end of the night,” she said. “It’s going to be a fun night out.”

Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for youth ages 6-12 and $5 for 3 to 5-year-olds. Tables of eight are also available for purchase.
