Santa Saturday promises to spread holiday cheer

Dec 6, 2018 | 10:53 AM

If you’re looking to get out and participate in some holiday cheer, Santa Saturday is where you’re going to want to be.

Starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, there’s a flurry of events happening in downtown North Battleford. There will be pictures with Santa at the Credit Union, Street Hockey with the North Stars, horse and wagon rides, gift wrapping at Cafe4u, and sales throughout the downtown core.

There’s a little something for everyone throughout the day, and it’s a way to show off the downtown, according to executive director of the North Battleford Business Improvement District, Misty Lavertu.

“A big part of this is for people to come out and to see the work that’s been done,” she said. “Letting everyone know that downtown is a good place to be, and a fun place to be.”

The North Stars will be out for the day, playing street hockey with anyone that brings a donation to the food bank. Lavertu said that they will be handing out old Battlefords Barons jerseys for people to wear while they’re on the road playing street hockey. Every person donating will get entered in a draw for a Connor McDavid jersey.

For everyone coming out to the event, Lavertu has a message for people hitting the streets.

“Bring your hockey sticks, dress warm, and come out and have fun,” she said.
