Another big win for Silvernagle’s rink

Dec 4, 2018 | 11:00 AM

It was another successful weekend for Robyn Silvernagle’s rink in Humboldt.

The North Battleford rink took home the win in decisive fashion, as every game was conceded before playing all eight ends. They were one of 16 teams competing over the weekend, and took home the top honours in the World Curling Tour event.

Their next trip to Humboldt will be a big one, as the 2019 Viterra Scotties Women’s Provincial Championships will be held from January 22 to 27. Silvernagle made a point that they hadn’t been officially announced as being in the bonspiel, but their stranglehold on the points within the province all but locks up the team to compete in the tournament.

This was their final World Curling Tour bonspiel of 2019, as their upcoming focus now becomes the Meridian Canadian Open, held in North Battleford during the first weekend of January. Silvernagle said it’s going to be fun playing at home.

“We really want to be playing at that level,” she said. “We’re really excited and it’s even better that it’s in North Battleford. People ask me all the time if we play here, it’s exciting to have people come watch.”

Silvernagle said the bonspiel will have a provincial feeling, and being at the top for points in the province, the view looks great from the top.

“It feels great, we always knew we could be at the top,” she said. “Having our skill, working really hard, and really coming together as a team, we knew we could be at the top.”

She said with their three-week break, they’ll be resting up and getting ready for the January 8 start date at the Twin Rivers Curling Club.
