Team Silvernagle to compete in Meridian Canadian Open

North Battleford’s very own will be competing on the national stage against the world’s best this January when the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling, Meridian Canadian Open comes to the Battlefords.

Team Silvernagle, consisting of Skip Robyn Silvernagle of North Battleford, Third Stefanie Lawton of Saskatoon, Second Jessie Hunkin of Stony Plain, Alta., and Lead Kara Thevenot of Prince Albert will be competing at the event, which runs from Jan. 8 to 13 at the North Battleford Civic Centre.

Owned and operated by Sportsnet, the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling is an annual series comprised of seven curling tournaments, inviting the world’s best curlers to compete in Canada. It features 16 men’s and 16 women’s teams with a triple knockout format. 

Team Silvernagle is the second Saskatchewan team confirmed to compete in the event. Team Muyres of Saskatoon qualified at the Tour Challenge in Thunder Bay on Nov. 11.
