NBCHS hopes to make positive difference with annual Food Drive

Nov 28, 2018 | 4:00 PM

The annual NBCHS Food Drive will be taking place Sun., Dec. 2 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Mon., Dec. 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Students and staff will be heading out into the neighbourhoods of the Battlefords to collect donations of non-perishable food.  All donations will then be sent to the Battlefords and District Food Bank and Learning Centre with the assistance of Loraas Environmental on December 20.

Andrew Sneddon, a Grade 7 home room teacher at the high school, has spent the last four years he’s been at NBCHS, helping to organize the event that started as a way for the school to do something to reach out in the community and has been going strong at the school for about 25 years now.

Sneddon said with as many as 60-100 volunteers in previous years and about 30-40 student volunteers over the last couple of years, the number of students offering up their time to volunteer for the Food Drive`s cause, is a great thing to see for the school, and certainly bodes well for the Battlefords as a community moving forward into the future.
