NB council meetings to start earlier in new year

Nov 27, 2018 | 8:06 AM

North Battleford City Hall will head into the new year with an earlier start time for council meetings.

When council convened Monday night members approved a bylaw to change the start time to 6:15 p.m., instead of 8 p.m. The change goes into effect beginning in January 2019.

Mayor Ryan Bater said he hopes to see more people from the public come to council meetings as a result of the change.

“This was discussed when we gave direction to administration to prepare this bylaw,” he said following council. “The idea is that this will hopefully encourage more individuals to be engaged with council meetings, because this is a more convenient time for people to attend.”

Council usually meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month during the year.

There will be only one regular council meeting next month, on Dec 10. The time for this meeting time will remain at 8 p.m.
