ReMax donates to BTEC Mardi Gras fundraiser

For the last six years, the Battlefords Trade and Education Centre (BTEC) has hosted Mardi Gras Magic as a major fundraiser for the organization.

In years prior, funds raised have gone towards BTEC’s new building. But after the community stepped up, helping raise $2.4 million, the organization wants to give back. This year, half the proceeds raised at the event will support the Battlefords Humane Society. The other half will be used to continue to enhance activities and opportunities for the participants at BTEC.

Helping them in doing so is ReMax of the Battlefords, who donated $10,000 to the event Thursday. The company helped BTEC sell its former building.

“It was a very, very generous donation. I was surprised,” Lyndon Heinemann, board member and vice president said. “We knew ReMax was going to give back and help for the participants … but it was overwhelming the number they put on that cheque.”
