Walk planned for Wednesday to raise awareness of missing woman

Oct 23, 2018 | 5:00 PM

Family and friends of missing North Battleford woman Ashley Morin are inviting people to attend a walk Wednesday to help increase awareness Morin is still missing.

The walk will start at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday from outside the RCMP detachment offices at 1052 101 St., heading to the North Battleford Library.

Bridgette Swiftwolfe, Indigenous resource officer for Victims Services, said Morin’s family members love her and miss her, and pray to see her come home.

“We want people to be aware she is still missing and if anybody knows her whereabouts to call the RCMP,” she said. “We’re still looking for her.”

She is encouraging people to participate in the walk tomorrow.

“Everybody is welcome to come to the walk,” Swiftwolfe said.

Morin’s friends and family took part in the Sisters in Spirit Walk walk earlier this month. Family friend and spokesperson Krista Fox made a desperate plea to the community at that time to find Morin.

Swiftwolfe said a dinner is being planned for Morin’s family to offer support, adding “they are going through a lot.”

Morin is described as a 31-year-old Indigenous woman, about 5-foot-2-inches tall and weighing 110 pounds. She has long black hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing grey sweatpants, a black T-shirt with white writing on it, a black hat and sunglasses.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact the Battlefords RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
