The Thunderchlild First Nation has a new Chief and his name is James Snakeskin.

The former deputy chief defeated six others on the ballot to take the top job in Monday's election.

Filling out council are newly elected Headman Walter Jimmy, Barry Paddy, Bill Yellowhead, Micheal Linklater and Savana Walkingbear, alongside returning Headman John Noon.

Incumbent Delbert Wapass did not seek re-election as he has thrown his name into the ring to challenge Bobby Cameron for chief of the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations.
