City Hall resumes lease agreement with RCMP
North Battleford City Hall agreed to resume its lease agreement with the RCMP for the detachment to use the building owned by the city at 1052 101 Street.
The RCMP had an agreement in place with the city for a long-term lease, which in effect was a guarantee to the City of North Battleford when the city was having the building constructed 15 years ago, since the city had to take out a loan for the capital cost to have it built.
After this 10-year lease is over in 2028, the loan will be paid off and the city will own the building outright. The RCMP will still continue to lease the building after 2028, with the details of the agreement to be negotiated at that time.
“It’s a city-owned building so we are 15 years into its life,” Mayor Ryan Bater said. “The last agreement expired at the end of March 2018, so this is to extend that agreement from April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2028.”
